The Trust severs the tenancy of the property, so each partner owns a specific percentage (usually 50/50) and their share can be passed on as they wish. Should one partner die, their share of the property is placed in a Trust for the beneficiaries – fully protecting it if the surviving partner remarries.

The surviving partner has the right to live in the property for the rest of their life, or they can sell the house – but any profit has to be split equally between them and the trustees.
